An animated journey through the workings of Symphony Hall’s spectacular 6000-pipe organ, created by Chris Randall with Digbeth-based animation company Second Home Studios, to a poem by Symphony Hall’s poet-in-residence Julie Boden. The work is narrated by actress Lorna Laidlaw. The Mechanical Musical Marvel is an educational tool to simply explain the inner workings of Symphony Hall’s pipe organ to children. As well as being available on-line, it will be used as the centrepiece for THSH’s Science of Sound Discovery Days that introduce Symphony Hall’s organ and stunning acoustics to Key Stage Two pupils in a fun and interactive way. The Mechanical Musical Marvel has also been selected for screening at this year’s prestigious Chicago International Children’s Film Festival.
