John Myers

An exhibition of work by John Myers with photographs from series made throughout the early 1970s, including ‘Middle England’ (1970-74), a selection of portraits of individuals and families close to Myers, living in and around Stourbridge. Like all of the artist’s work the approach is documentary in style, but one in which the images speak to us of value, of the aspirations of the sitter and the spaces they occupy, as well as the artist himself. These everyday pictures of people in their front rooms, their backyards, embody much of the preoccupations, the hopes and desires, and class politics of their time.
